All fun with Bay City Rollers
Monday, March 13, 2006
For nearly 200 people, S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y night meant a trip back in
time, when Ian Mitchell's Bay City Rollers brought some retro-rock to
Saginaw's Temple Theatre Grand Ballroom.
Mid-Michigan's own Banana Convention opened the show Saturday,
creating a buzz among those who had never caught the bubble-gum band.
Then the kilt-clad Mitchell, along with The Cryers, sang the hits
that put the Rollers -- and Bay City -- on the map in the 1970s.
Finally, he invited fans to come on stage for the song everyone
remembers.
"Everywhere we go, it's like this, people having fun," Mitchell said
after the show, shaking his head at the mania that keeps him on the
road. He spent still another hour meeting with fans, signing vintage
albums, posing for pictures and reliving the glory days.
"Isn't it wild?" Mitchell said. "I'm having as much fun as anyone." |
